Internet Explorer just frustrated me again. I'm in the habit of using Google as my search engine, but a recent installation of AVG changed some settings. So I went into Help to figure out how to change them.
No luck on "search engine", but a second try just on "search" brought up the right information. BUT, the term used was "search provider". Who wrote this? No one I know uses this terminology in everyday language, and certainly not the average computer user. Microsoft gets slammed for poor usability, and this is a simple example.
Technology can be daunting, and using vendor-centric terms compounds the problem. As users/buyers of your technology, communicate with us using the words that we use, not your technical writers.
